"You ask the women in my name what they need, and I will provide."
Since the prayerful revelation of Welcome Home in 1996, it has become evident that the women who have experienced the real life trauma of addiction, abuse and incarceration, really are the authorities. We call these women "the peers" and they have learned a great deal along their journey, seeking healing, wholeness and restoration. They understand pain, struggle, and loss, and they both identify the solutions appropriate to change this cycle, and to clarify ways these solutions can be integrated into their lives. This is, the POWER OF THE PEERS.
The primary collaboration needed between the peers and the community are the inroads and connections needed to produce a tapestry of success for restoring lives, renewing families, and rebuilding communities. With the unveiling of a workable solution comes the respect others will develop when they realize that collaboration really works, that this idea is valid, and that this solution will make a difference. Thus, the POWER OF THE PEERS.
As women gain strength in their own self worth and identity, they can expand their potential, enrich their influence, and brighten their outcomes. They exceed their own expectations by writing grants, publishing professional articles, making formal presentations, and speaking before the judicial system for change. With the collaborative coaching, support, mentoring and cheer leading, the peers are able to stand tall, speak clearly, and lead with authority. Thus, the POWER OF THE PEERS.
Within the Welcome Home experience, our standard mantra for each peer is this:
. We believe in your potential;
. We will never ever give up on you;
. We will walk along side of you each step of your journey, but we will not do it for you;
. We will never turn our backs on you;
. We will always love you unconditionally.
